Scouting Report:
In a year when the new BBCOR bats dropped offensive numbers across the country, Victor Roache exploded to lead the nation with 30 home runs.
Roache, drafted by Detroit in the 25th round in 2009, was raw coming out of high school and has improved dramatically in his two years at Georgia Southern. After striking out once every 3.6 at bats as a freshman, he struck out once every 5.5 at bats in 2011. Roache’s raw power has never been in question. He can hit the ball out to all fields.

Quotes:
- Tigers scout Mark Monahan- “He showed big-time power in high school. We worked him out a few times, brought Victor and Daniel Fields to (Comerica Park) two days before the draft in front of Dave Dombrowski and all the scouts. They both showed unbelievable power. Victor’s potential was his power.”
- Citadel coach Fred Jordan- “He will make any ballpark look small. He has true power, and it’s not small ballpark power. He’s one of the more talented power guys in the country.”
