Scouting Report:

Lucas Giolito caught everyone’s attention at the 2010 Area Code Games.  Since that time, all he has done is impress scouts and improve on the mound.  Giolito has worked hard to be more pitcher than thrower.  His large frame and projection will keep everyone’s attention until draft day.

Giolito has a slow and easy delivery.  To call it low effort may be a bit of an understatement.  He has loose arm actions and good arm speed.  He employs a low leg kick and many would like to see him use his lower body more. 

Five pitches are in Giolito’s arsenal; a four-seam fastball, two-seam fastball, curve, slider, and circle change.  He sits in the mid to high 90′s, currently topping out at 100.  His hard curve has shown plus potential.

Occasional control issues have been an issue with Giolito.  At this point, I would call those expected and his control has been steadily improving.
