Scouting Report:

After batting just .244 as a freshman, Tyler Naquin hit .389 in 2011 and was named the Big 12 Player of the Year.  Naquin makes consistent contact and has some pull power.

Naquin plays right field for the Aggies.  Even with his offensive output, he is better known for his plus arm than he is for his bat.  Naquin also has good range for a corner outfield spot.

Overall, Naquin is a heads up player with good potential at the next level.  Power is the one missing aspect of his game, but he still has room to put on weight and possibly increase his power output.

Quotes:

  • Texas A&M associate coach Andy Sawyers-  “He’s got tremendous hand-eye coordination.  From his elbows to his fingers, he’s probably the most gifted young man I’ve coached….I think he’s going to play in the big leagues.  He’s going to one day bulk up to 190 pounds, and when that happens, he’s going to hit the ball a long ways.”
  • “He’s got the best arm strength-accuracy combination of any kid I’ve ever coached.”  A&M coach Rob Childress
