Scouting Report:

A big arm in a small package, Marcus Stroman is the top reliever eligible for the 2012 MLB Draft.  When things are going right, he can appear nearly unhittable.  Already viewed as a top prospect, he was electric for the Collegiate National Team over the summer, striking out 17 of the first 18 batters he faced.

Stroman uses a high 3/4 release point.  His delivery is clean and simple.

Stroman has tremendous stuff.  His fastball comes in from 95-98.  Stroman’s curve is also an above average pitch and can be plus at times.  An inconsistent changeup is Stroman’s third offering.

Stroman has been used as a starter and reliever in college, but he is projected to come out of the pen at the next level due to his size.

Quotes:

Stroman-  “Whatever puts me on the fast track to the big leagues is what I want.  Closing games is a challenge. You need your best stuff for one inning. There’s no pacing yourself; you just blow it out and go after people. I love the pressure.”
