No love for Valentin in the HS? Question: Is Gallo the best power potential bat in the entire draft? Just HS?
Hey Matt – you may have already got info from other sources, but I just noticed that google cache has a snapshot of some of your profiles. I just looked up Dane Phillips this way. It was from Jan 13th. Hope that might help.
On Valentin, I think among some people, it is easy to overlook the Puerto Rican players, unless they are undeniable like Correa. That said, I like him, but had my 3 shortstop votes go Correa, Hinojosa, and Cecchini. On Gallo, if he doesn’t have the best power potential, he is right up there. I have someone working on a top draft eligible power hitters list, and in the last draft that I saw, Gallo was number 1.
Thanks for the tip on Cache, I actually realized it yesterday, thats where all the profiles started coming from. I hope to have all the profiles and Q&A’s reposted by the end of the weekend. I have a few new ones to put up, but I don’t want them to get lost in the old ones.
Hi Matt, glad the site is back up, it’s been a great resource. I have a question regarding several prospects I was hoping you might be able to answer.
First, how would you rank the following high school pitchers and what rounds do you see them going in: RHP Walker Buehler, RHP Chase Dejong, RHP Brady Bramlett, RHP Kieran Lovegrove, RHP Zack Eflin, RHP Mitchell Aker, RHP Justin Garza, RHP Jamie Calahan, RHP Calvin Matthews, RHP Paul Blackburn, RHP Matthew Vogel, RHP Logan Seifrit, LHP Ryan Kellog, LHP Stephen Dressler.
Who would you say is the best Canadian player available in this draft. Are there any Lawries or Vottos. What round do you see a guy like 3B/C Billy Germaine going? How about RHP Jeff Gibbs.
Mike, I am working on pitcher rankings right now, so a complete answer should be up soon. The two names on that list that stick out for me are Eflin and Callahan. Of course, once I have looked at all of them more in depth, others probably will stand out.
I look here http://www.canadianbaseballnetwork.com/draft-list/2012/ for Canadian information and they have Ryan Kellogg as the top Canadian. I like Gibbs and Clouthier quite a bit. Catcher Rowan Wick is someone I want to find out more about.
Thanks, I’ll check it out. Looking forward to what you have coming up.
hi matt , did you got any information of jose favela catcher from el paso , tx best arm , big bat
Guillermo, I did hear some about him, all favorable. I’m not positivr, but odds are he will make it onto the catcher rankings, which should be out in the next week or so.
No love for Fernelys Sanchez? He’s my guess for the Yankees second or third round pick – although given how they’ve drafted the last few years, they could pick him in the first.
Mike, no love for him in this voting, but he will get the love that matters in June.
Mike, Austin Schotts of Frisco Centennial should be mentioned as top 2nd baseman. Future leadoff hitter in MLB. 4.09 and 4.3 on turn. 3.7 on drag. Has 6 raw power. Above average range. Kinsler body type.
Matt,
What do you think about Trey Kamachi-Allen, RHP, from Kapolei, HI. Let me know, he has a lot of upside to his pitches. Thanks
I have only seen him on video, but he seems pretty solid, good mix of pitches, good athlete. He also seems like a pretty good kid.
hi matt, everybody is waiting for pitchers and catchers list, HOPE coming soon thanks
